Writing to Persuade –

App Reviews

Objective: 3rd grade student will write reviews of app they have played, and after learning safe and appropriate on-line behaviors will post their entries in the Moodle “There’s an App for That… Reviews”.

Proposed Technology: Moodle – Forum posting

Materials:
Access to an app
Writers notebook
Microsoft Word
Computer
FlashDrive
Pencil
Internet

Prior Knowledge:

• Students will have written reviews on movies, games, books, food, restaurant.
• Techniques for writing will have been discussed
• Appropriate rating scale established
• Students will be familiar with Word and storing files on their flash drive
• Students will be familiar with searching for an image on the Internet, and saving it to their flash drive,

Procedure:

• Students will complete the 2 Cybersmart handouts reviewing personal and private information.
• Students will write a review of an app and have the content reviewed by the classroom teacher
• Students will create that review in digital format
• Students will search and store an image related to their app on their flashdrive
• Students will post the review in the forum of the class Moodle
• Students will review app posts of their classmates
• Students will respond appropriately to classmates posts, and inappropriate comments will not be allowed to be posted, as this is a moderated forum.
